Performance of Biomass and Exopolysaccharide Production from the Medicinal Mushroom Ganoderma lucidum in a New Fabricated Air-L-Shaped Bioreactor (ALSB)

Conventional stirred-tank bioreactor (STR) designs are optimised for cultures of bacteria but not fungal cultures; therefore, a new Air-L-Shaped Bioreactor (ALSB) was fabricated. The ALSB designed to eliminate the wall growth and clumping mycelium in STRs. Ganoderma lucidum used as model its biomass exopolysaccharide (EPS) production were maximised by optimising agitation rate, glucose concentration, initial pH, aeration via response surface methodology (RSM). system generated 7.8 g/L (biomass conditions: 110 rpm, 24 glucose, pH 5.6, 3 v/v aeration) 4.4 EPS (EPS 90 30 4, 2.5 aeration). In combination, both conditions, (7.9 g/L) (4.6 produced at with minimal growth. data prove that is blueprint efficient economical cultivation.
